Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Outreach Officer

SWOP is seeking an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community member to work as part of the SWOP outreach team. The position provides outreach to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people engaged in sex work and providing sex for favours across NSW, with the aim of encouraging and supporting safer behaviours and empowering these community members to protect themselves and improve their health and wellbeing.

Note: Aboriginality is a genuine requirement of this position as per Section 14 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act, 1977.

Previous experience in the sex industry is essential, as is a NSW drivers licence and some outdoor and evening work. All information provided by applicants is kept confidential and only viewed by the interview panel.

This is a part time position three days per week (21 hours/week) and based in Surry Hills.

Office and Administration Support Officer 


SWOP is seeking a highly motivated person with strong and concise oral and written communication skills and a strong attention to detail. The main duties of this role are administrative, including but not limited to, office administration, staff, management and committee support, data entry (including some bookkeeping, and other clerical duties.

To be successful, you will have highly developed organisational and time management skills with the capacity to plan and prioritise work within competing deadlines. Strong computer and keyboard skills covering word processing, file management, database management and accounting systems are essential. Excellent analytical skills with a strong interest in problem solving, quality assurance and corporate governance will be an advantage. Experience in and knowledge of the NSW sex industry is essential.

This is a part time position, four days per week (28 hours/week) and it’s based in Surry Hills. Applications for this position close 5pm Friday 17 March 2017.

Volunteer Positions

Want to volunteer at SWOP? SWOP uses volunteers in a variety of roles, such as:

  • creating safe sex ”workers packs”
  • staffing information stalls at special events
  • writing for The Professional magazine.

The amount of time you contribute is up to you. Some people volunteer on a regular basis, while others volunteer for special events. All assistance is greatly appreciated!

If you are interested, phone SWOP to make an appointment and we will go through the process with you.

Please note: you need to provide 100 points of identification and fill out some paperwork. Once that is done, you are ready to go and will be called upon when needed.



Student Placements


We endeavour to provide students in relevant disciplines the opportunity to gain experience through placements in some of SWOP’s programs and services. We accept a limited number of placements and have previously placed students from the fields of:
